School of Artificial Intelligence, Chongqing University of Technology was founded on June 9, 2018 as the first batch of AI colleges set up in colleges and universities across China. It is also the "leading college" dedicated for new engineering science and the "demonstration college" in industry-education integration in which Chongqing University of Technology has heavily invested. The School is located in Liangjiang Campus of Chongqing University of Technology, fully harnessing the advantages of an artificial intelligence industry cluster under the national new area "Chongqing Liangjiang New Area" program to gather educational resources. The School is committed to building a new pyramid discipline system with "artificial intelligence" as the core, integrating various supporting disciplines such as intelligent algorithms, intelligent software, data intelligence and intelligent systems, forming a hierarchical, overlapping, integrated and progressive mode of intelligent talent training. It is currently the most complete and distinctive artificial intelligence college in China. Adhering to the operation philosophy of "student-centered and teacher-focused", the School is committed to cultivating high-quality application-oriented innovative talents urgently needed in the fields related to the big data intelligence industry of Chongqing and even the whole country. It strives to build a leading and domestic AI college with certain international influence and major industrial contribution, distinctive operation characteristics and outstanding discipline advantages within ten years.

At present, the School has established the Department of Intelligent Science, Department of Big Data Intelligent Technology, Department of Intelligent Information Engineering and Department of Intelligent Systems and Engineering relying on the disciplines of Intelligent Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (recruitment since September 2021)/Electronic Information Science and Technology. Among them, Software Engineering is designated as the national first-class undergraduate discipline construction site, the characteristic discipline under the "Three Special Action Plans" program in Chongqing, and the "First-class Discipline" of Chongqing. Data Science and Big Data Technology is designated as the characteristic discipline in the category of big data intelligence in Chongqing. Since 2021, the School has recruited academic masters in artificial intelligence, the secondary discipline under Computer Science and Technology; professional masters in the field of artificial intelligence under Electronic Information, and cooperated with Peking University in the joint training program of postdoctoral researchers.

Insisting on development through scientific research, the School focuses on "intelligent perception technology for advanced equipment", carries out scientific research around three major research fields, namely, intelligent robot, big health and industrial big data, and works to establish five scientific research teams, namely, "image processing and machine vision", "big data and intelligent information processing", "machine learning and machine game", "intelligent hardware and intelligent control", and "intelligent robot". It also carries out industry-university-research cooperation with well-known enterprises in the industries of intelligent image processing, machine vision, natural language processing, smart cars, big data technology, cloud computing industrial Internet and other fields. The School is affiliated to the Professional Committee of Machine Game of the Chinese Academy of Artificial Intelligence. Professor Zhang Xiaochuan, the vice president of the School, serves as the Director of the Professional Committee of Machine Game.

The School actively adopted a new mode of talent cultivation integrating production and education, entered into cooperation agreements with 20 famous AI enterprises such as MCC CISDI, IMICRO, UBTech, and established school-enterprise cooperation relationships covering internship and training with more than 20 enterprises such as Chang'an Automobile, Deloitte Consulting (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., Transsion Technology, China Software International, Phoenix Auto Intelligence, Tengyun Yixiang, Dajia Software, and CMM; The School implements the joint steering mechanism combining excellent undergraduate tutorial system and excellent graduate tutors in the innovated experimental class under "AI Talent Program"; The School has actively carried out student discipline competition activities and built a multi-level competition system covering the national, provincial and ministerial levels and industrial levels. In the past five years, more than 500 students have received various awards, including more than 120 national competition awards. It has been the winner in the finals of the China University Computer Game Competition for several consecutive years; The School is home to the Computer Vision Intelligent Technology Engineering Research Center of the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Targeek of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. It has been designated as the "Joint Training Base for Graduate Students of Chongqing University of Science and Technology and MCC CISDI (municipal level)", the "Joint Training Base for Graduate Students of Chongqing University of Science and Technology and Linlue Technology (municipal level)", and the "Joint Training Base for Graduate Students of Chongqing University of Science and Technology and Urit (municipal level)". The School is committed to building a "software factory" for undergraduate students, Efforts are made to improve students' engineering practical ability and professional skills, and meanwhile, employment practice bases are established in big data intelligent industrial parks and well-known enterprises in the industry to continuously enhance the employment competitiveness and social adaptability of graduates. Its first batch of graduates are employed by well-known leading enterprises such as Microsoft, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, NetEase, JD, Toutiao Today, ByteDance and Hikvision.
